Easy Drink Recipes for Happy Camping

There is no reason to not uplift your spirits with spirits (or otherwise!) while camping in the outdoors or in your RV. There is a way to make scrumptious alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages effectively without having to bust out the blender.

For those who don’t necessarily need to lighten the load. Be sure to get yourself a handy 5-piece shaker to be able to measure, shake and pour your beverage all in one package. Go with stainless steel because it won’t break and it will get your concoctions cool almost immediately! Definitely opt for plastic glasses or copper mugs for your cocktails. A fireproof kettle for any hot beverages. Fireproof and shatterproof is the way to roll in the outdoors.

Happy Camping Drink Recipes:

Mountain Man Margarita

  • Lemon-lime gatorade
  • Tequila
  • Fresh snow (or crushed ice!)

Fill your shaker with ice or fresh snow. Obviously, you have to be camping near fresh snow to use the roughing it version. Add 2 parts tequila and 1 part lemon-lime gatorade. Shake well. Pour into shatterproof glasses. It may be more of a slushie margarita but it will be tasty! Effective and scrumptious!

Mint Lemontini

  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ lemon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 sprig of fresh mint
  • 4 or 5 ice cubes
  • 1 shot of vodka (for the adult version)

Add 1 tbsp sugar and juice of ½ a lemon to your shaker. Shake it up until the sugar dissolves. Then add the remaining ingredients. Shake well and pour into a shatterproof glass or mug. The kids will love it! For the adult-version add a shot of vodka to the mix! Refreshing and energizing!

Ginger Beer Moscow Mules

  • 16 oz. copper mug
  • 4 or 5 ice cubes
  • 2 oz. vodka (for the adult version)
  • ½ lime
  • Mint sprig

Take out the copper mugs and fill them with ice. Add 2 parts vodka and 1 part juice of ½ a lime to each mug. Grab your mint sprig and smack it with the other hand. This helps release the oils and juices of the mint. Then add the mint to your glass. Top it off with ginger beer. Most ginger beer is nonalcoholic. You can always try this recipe with seltzer water instead of vodka. Adding a bit more ginger beer to the mix for virgin cocktails. Fun fact: Serving in a copper mug is what makes this a classic moscow mules recipe. Bold and spicy!

Good Morning Pick-Me-Up

  • 3 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsps powdered milk
  • 1 tbsp instant coffee creamer (optional)
  • 2 tbsps sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp cayenne
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 packet of instant coffee

Add all of the dry ingredients to your mug. You can easily measure out these servings and place them in individual plastic ziplock bags for convenience before your camping adventure begins. Heat hot water on a fire using your kettle or a pot. Add 2 tbsps of hot water and stir until the mixture turns into a thick paste. Keep stirring as your slowly add the remainder of hot water. Stimulating and uplifting!

Straight Ginger Whiskey

  • Ginger ale
  • Limes (cut into wedges)
  • Bourbon whiskey

In a mug or shatterproof glass, add ice. Add 1 part bourbon whiskey, 2 parts ginger ale, squeeze 1 lime wedge in glass. Stir gently. Tart and tasty!

Friendly reminders when drinking outdoor beverages:

Drink responsibly! Be careful when drinking alcoholic beverages outdoors. Don’t drive if you are in an RV camper. Make sure you will be parked in a safe location for the night. Be sure to clean up your campsite after your camping trip is over. Bring necessary items for a safe and environmentally friendly trip. Be sure you are in a comfortable environment with family and friends. In addition to your delicious happy camping beverages, drink lots of water too!

Helpful outdoor beverage making tips:

You can always cool down your alcohol by placing the bottle in a cool nearby stream or body of water. You can use fresh snow in place of ice. Another solution to making drinks outdoors is mixing up your cocktails beforehand than add to tightly sealed ziplock bags for easy storage. If you want to avoid any glass whatsoever, you can always transfer anything in glass to plastic or shatterproof bottles before your adventure begins. All of these recipes can be made into non-alcoholic or non-caffeinated beverages if necessary for the kids!

Have a refreshing, fun and safe trip, happy campers!
